NWA Annual Club Soccer Tryouts: Registration is NOW

If your child is interested in playing club soccer, now is the time to act. Annual registration for all the local soccer clubs in Northwest Arkansas is open now, and tryouts will begin in late May. The date of each tryout varies based on the age group. This only happens once a year, so if your child has interest, don't wait. Tryouts for the younger children are coming up in late May 1st week of June.

To learn more about the differences between recreational soccer vs. club (travel) soccer, including time commitment, financials, and more, please visit our NWA Youth Soccer Guide. Playing team-based competitive sports not only helps with physical activity, but also enhances social skills, self-esteem, academic success, sportsmanship, and ultimately life-long health.

Academy (10 and under) is a nice transition between recreational and classic soccer for the child and the parent as travel is limited, player development is the main focus, and All children usually make Academy age teams, with rare exception.

Classic level soccer starts at 11 and older. This level of soccer does have cuts, so not every child who tries out will always make the team. The final numbers also play a role. For example, if they have 18 kids show up for tryouts, they may only have enough for 1 team (e.g. 10-12). So the earlier you register, the better feel each club will have for how many teams they need at each age group.

Parental Advice: If your child is trying out for the 1st time with a Classic level team (e.g. 11 years and older), try out for multiple teams if you have have that option. Each club, and team for that matter, has its own personality and focus. My own children have played for 2 different clubs throughout the years. If your child doesn't make the team at one club but could possibly make another, it would be best to diversify your options. Also, if a child makes both clubs, however in one club he/she will get limited time, whereas in the other club he/she would get a starting position, it may be a better option to go with the later.
