8 Children's Enrichment Classes You Might not Know About
Parents are continuously looking for ways to stimulate their children with programs that offer growth and learning they might not find elsewhere. There are so many opportunities in Northwest Arkansas that go beyond sports and dance! If you're looking for a way to broaden your kids horizons, check out this list of programs you might not have heard of. Now you know!
Español con Señora Cantu - This is not your ordinary Spanish class. Mariza Cantu incorporates, play, music, movement and even cooking into her highly interactive Spanish class. With her small class sizes, kids learn at a fast pace, but they're having so much fun they don't even realize how much they're learning. Parents can choose between classes in her Rogers home, the Arkansas Arts Academy or the Walmart Life Fitness Center. She teaches group lessons for kids in preschool through 4th grade and private lessons up to 12th grade. https://www.spanishcantunwa.com/
Zuriel Stables Horse Camp - Zuriel Stables offers traditional horse riding lessons and birthday parties, but the hidden gem here is the year round horse camp. Offered every day after school year round, kids spend 3 hours riding, washing, brushing and feeding the horses. It's an opportunity for kids to bond with the horses in a way beyond simply riding. http://aholla31.wixsite.com/zuriel-stables/about1
Community Creative Center - Located in the Walton Arts Center's Nadin Baum Studios this non-profit studio and visual arts organization offers classes in pottery, watercolor, acrylics, drawing, mosaic and mixed media for children. Plus, they offer Family Fridays, Super Saturdays and some free workshops in addition to their ongoing sessions. http://communitycreativecenter.org/
The Domestic Musician - Who wants to cut down on driving kids to after school activities? Everyone, right? Jessica Peresta lives in Lowell and offers a different way of learning music through online videos and courses. She previously taught elementary music, but now she provides a music education subscription and level 1 piano course online for schools and families. http://www.thedomesticmusician.com/
Art Club with Mrs. Pehosh - This isn't your average art club...it's got style! There's no limit to what a lesson can hold, and the best part is that students always have input. Mrs. Pehosh is a certified art teacher who taught in the Bentonville school district for 25 years. Now, she designs afterschool art projects and lessons for students in grades K-6th. Her studio is at the Artist Retreat Center in Bella Vista, where she provides a fun place for kids to play and learn about art. https://www.facebook.com/artclubwithmrspehosh/
Northwest Arkansas Fencing Foundation and Center - This is a great alternative to the more popular sports we usually see. Fencing lessons and classes are available to fencers of various ages and skill levels. Choose from introductory fencing classes or private fencing competitive coaching. NWAFF is dedicated to the educational advancement of under-served youth, between the ages of 9 and18, through instruction in the sport of fencing by an internationally acclaimed, certified coach. http://nwafc.org/
Nerdies - A division of New Design School in Fayetteville, Nerdies is for kids ages 6-15. At its core, this is a learning company with other services sprinkled in which uniquely fit the needs of smart, inquisitive kids who would rather learn how to program video games or build robots than ride a bike or play sports. This is a place for those kids to be themselves. https://www.nerdies.me/https://www.nerdies.me/
